Traditional breast reduction techniques involve excision of skin and breast tissue in the lower two quadrants of the breast medializing the lateral remaining components of the breast tissue and compressing the tissue against the pedicle to form a new breast. These techniques traditionally do not address the lateral breast however some variations have treated the lateral component of the breast by liposuction leaving excess skin in this area.
The author has developed a new technique for breast reduction which addresses both skin and breast tissue in the lateral components of the breast and also decreases the pedicle compression.
The author will discuss this new technique explaining both benefits and pitfalls with this technique over traditional breast reduction techniques.
